German Christmas Market... for wildlife!
This year has been pretty hard for all of us and, for many, watching wildlife has been a real tonic!
I was contacted by BBC's The One Show, to create some fun content for a Christmas show and this set-up was a product of discussions between myself and the team, to create something that would bring a smile to people's faces and benefit the wildlife too! It took almost a month to build and test and will now live stream up until Boxing Day, so you can share the joy of wildlife interacting with this scene! I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it!

Behind the scenes.....
So, how did I go about creating this? It all starts with sketches, a Pinterest board and research! I have created lots of mini scenes for wildlife, but nothing quite on this scale for the birds! I very quickly have an image that forms in my mind and then it is a matter of turning that into reality! I researched what 1/12 bits I could get for a set-up like this and decided to do two market stalls; one with toys and one with food and drink. Once I get building, there is no stopping me, as I get quite hooked on creating something that will not only look good, but will also function as a feeding station, with the wildlife moving about and interacting with the space. I play around with layouts and set-ups before finally glueing everything into place.
